If you are planning on getting pregnant t is important to take in a lot of folic acid foods, if you cannot get it through food  there are supplemental pills you can take. Folic Acid is important because it can reduce the risk of neural-tube defects (spina bifida). Before conception 400 mcg during the amount increases to about 600-800 mcg foods that contain Folic Acid:
